Daily Stump
So...I ask my students to write all the time and to be honest I don't have much patience when they tell me they don't know what to write about. Now, granted, some of the students who have this complaint have been hard at work for all of two minutes so my lack of patience is warranted. But; tonight I kinda know what they mean. I think in this case, though, it is a case of being tired and still having stuff to do...also; I'm getting kind of tired of doing this Project 365 thing. I keep thinking on the one hand it's cool to document a tiny part of every day of your life for a year...what a thing to look back on. But, on the other hand what could I possibly have to say still? Woke up...again. Had a vanilla latte...again. Stayed at school too late...again. Organized and stacked piles of papers...again. Demanded that Sommer stop licking...again. Ate dinner and watched Ghost Hunters...again. Washed dishes...again. Coerced Sommer to stop pawing me...again. Got after Cleo for barking...again. Wondered why Roxy looks at us as though we're about to kick her out...again. Slacked on laundry...again. Left dinner on the counter...again. Blogged...again :-)

First let me say that your students are very lucky and they don't even know it. The gift of communication and the ability to create with words has to be nurtured gently at times, and at other times it needs to be knocked over the head with a baseball bat. Think of it like this, you're giving them a Christmas present that they don't get to unwrap until they're in their twenties or thirties.
I think I can understand your battle with writer's block, or in this case blogger's block. Writing every day is a challenge. Sometimes the most challenging part is the creativity aspect though. I am sure if you were assigned to post about a certain subject, that it wouldn't be a problem at all then. But that isn't exactly what the spirit of blogging is about now, is it? Or is it?
Now hear your brother out. I have admired you for undertaking this Project 365 plan of yours and I have enjoyed reading your posts. You do know that you are one of my most favorite people in the world, don't you? I have a deal for you, if you promise to try and stay with your post-a-day thingamajig, I'll do the same starting on February 1st. The added bonus to this deal is that for the remainder of 2009 you will have the upper hand on your brother as the best that I can hope to accomplish is a Project 334.
Let me know your response, and in the meantime teacher, I have a writing assignment for you:
I am requesting a blog post from ChelleTells. We all impact the lives around us a thousand times a day, maybe even more. Sometimes we impact the lives of others in big ways, and sometimes in small ways. I would like you to tell me, and the world I guess, about how a person changed your life in some way small. I'm not looking for mind blowing unbelievable moments of earth shattering substance. I'm looking for something small. You may cook hot dogs the way you do because of this person. You may never let your gas gauge drop below 1/4 tank because of that person. Anything really, it just cannot be someone that you're related to. Oh, and you don't have to use their actual name if you don't want to.
There. That is your mission should you choose to accept it.
Love ya' sis
